Abstract
740,643. Ammunition projectile fuzes. VERWALTUNGSGES. DER WERKZEUGMASCHINEN-FABRIK OERLIKON. June 19, 1953 [June 25, 1952]. No. 17073/53. Class 9(1) A fuze-head, Fig. 1, comprises an inertia body 2 having a shock safety element 4 which abuts the striker 5 and is plastically deformable. The striker 5 has two centrifugal bodies 9 pivoted thereto which in the transport position abut the chamfered edge of a sleeve 10. The shoulder 5b of the striker 5 abuts a flat 12b formed on a gyroscopic rotor 12 which is contained in a casing 11 and carries the detonator cap 13. When fired the body 2 compresses the member 4 thereby allowing the bodies 9 to move the striker 5 against the action of a spring 6 whereupon the rotor 12 rights itself and registers with a reinforcing charge 14. Detonation is effected by the interia body on impact or else by the spring 6 when it is able to overcome the centrifugal forces acting on the bodies 9.
