Abstract

Dry finely-divided material suitable for use in making cement and concrete is obtained by grinding granulated blast furnace slag in a ball mill or equivalent grinder through which a stream of gas passes separating fine particles and conveying them out of the mill. The slag can be dried before grinding, in which case the gas is recycled to the mill, or dried by the gas which is then discharged to atmosphere.
