Abstract

738,446. Copy-turning. FISCHER AKT.- GES., G. Aug. 19, 1953 [Sept. 13, 1952], No. 22918/53. Class 83 (3). A lathe having a bed 1, Fig.. 1, saddle 2 and headstock 3 is provided with a hydraulicallyoperated copying attachment 23 mounted on a member 12 which bridges the cross-slide 7 and is fixed to the saddle. Thus work 5 may be machined simultaneously by a tool 10 on the manually-fed slide 7 and a tool 21 controlled by the copying attachment, or by the tool 21 only. Tool 21 is carried by a slide 13 containing a fixed piston 24, to opposite sides of which hydraulic fluid is supplied by a pump 19 through line 26. The pressure on side 29 of the piston is controlled by a valve 31 operated by a lever 33 having an adjustable feeler-end 17 engaging a template 16 on bracket 15. Tool 21 may be moved away from the work by rotation of a lever 36, Fig. 3, in the direction of arrow 43, to turn a pinion engaging a rack abutting a lever 40 coupled to lever 33 which is turned to raise tracer 17 from the template and open valve 31 to connect side 29 to the outlet line 35. Rotation of the lever 36 in the direction of arrow 44 moves the tool towards the work.
