737,867. Watches. McCLEAN, H. July 11, 1951 [April 11, 1950], No. 8818/50. Class 139. [Also in Group XIX] A watch for use in time-checking apparatus (see Group XIX) has a cylindrical case 20 pivoted about its vertical axis by means of a stepped pivot pin 24 formed in a detachable end plate 25 bearing in a recess in the base 27 of the apparatus and a pivot pin 28 formed in an upper plate of the apparatus and engaging in a bearing in a transparent plastic disc 22 covering the dial of the watch. The watch is stopped by the tip 56b of a bent lever 56 pivoted to a plate 53 rubbing on the staff 59 of the balance wheel in which position it is held by the tapered end 51a of a stud 51 carried by a leaf spring 52 the end 51a bearing against a semi-circular recess 55 in the side of the lever 56. When an element is moved to free the stud 51 it springs down clear of the lever 56 which is spring-urged to move clear of the balance wheel staff 59 and in doing so imparts a rotary movement to the staff to start the watch.
