Abstract

737,597. Lamp-holders. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. March 6, 1953 [March 11, 1952], No. 6288/53. Class 38 (1). An explosion-proof holder for a lamp having plug caps, comprises a small metal cap 1 (capacity about 2 c.c.) housing a spring-pressed contact-plate 2, and an insulating sleeve 3 attached to the cap in a gas-tight manner, there being an annular clearance between the inner surface of the sleeve and the lamp pin 4 so as to cool issuing spark gases produced at the contacts. To avoid exposure of "live" parts during manipulation of the lamp, the holder is connected by a strip 7 to a pin 6, both being mounted on an insulating plate 10 and housed in a cover 11. A current-supply holder 8 similar to the first one is secured to a housing 9, the lamp plugging into the first holder and the pin 6 into the holder 8 to make the electrical connection.
