Abstract

736,382. Look-out reflectors for vehicles. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Aug. 6, 1953 [Nov. 27, 1952], No. 21768/53. Class 103 (2). In a rear view mirror for vehicles the backing for the reflecting layer and a part for mounting it on a fixing member are made of plastic material. The device, as shown, comprises a body 1 and a ball 2 moulded in one piece from plastic material, which is transparent or smoked. One side of the body is covered by a metallic deposition 3 preferably covered by varnish 4. The device can be turned in a socket to show to direct view the metallic side for use in driving by day or to show the metallic side through the plastic backing for use in night driving. In a modification the metal part consists of metal foil inserted in grooves on the plastic backing. In a modification the backing is opaque plastic material on which is applied a metallic coating or foil of which only one side acts as a reflecting surface. The socket may be constructed as described in Specification 718,968, [Group V].
