Abstract
732,499. Electric cooker. JACKSON ELECTRIC STOVE CO., Ltd. Nov. 11, 1953 [Jan. 30, 1953], No. 2695/53. Class 39 (3). A domestic electric cooker has the control switches a, b, c and all or the bulk of the heating element socket blocks d, e and the main internal wiring housed as a self-contained and readily detachable unit at the rear of the cooker casing, the unit being mounted in a box f at the rear of a warming compartment u below surface heating units r plugged into sockets in the blocks d, e. The switches have spindles p extending through the front of the cooker and carrying operating knobs q. The supply cable k extends into the metal box f, which contains the wiring to the switches from terminals h, j and an earthing terminal m. The porcelain blocks d, e extend partly outside the box f, to which they are secured by screw x. The leads from the blocks to the oven heaters pass down at the rear of the oven through a metal duct-like cover s, which also carries a capillary tube t connecting a thermostatic phial in the oven to the switch c. In large ovens, socket blocks away from the rear of the oven are connected by wiring to the box f.
