In a valve jumper according to the parent Specification, the external portion of the stem is made separately and has a shank fitting into an axial hole in the remaining portion of the stem. As shown, the part 30 of the stem is of metal and is serrated or screwed at 33 to engage in the internal portion 35 of the stem. The jumper also carries a skirted disc 31 which can contact the valve seat to limit the compression of the head as the valve closes. The disc may be a separate member, and the skirt may be flared or cylindrical. Specification 703,825 also is referred to.
