Abstract

731,853. Fibre drafting mechanism. VEREINIGTE KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN AKT.-GES. Nov. 26, 1952 [Nov. 30, 1951], No. 29986/52. Class 120(2). A double apron drawing mechanism has the upper apron roller mounted on a spring-loaded bracket pivoted on a carrier arm and a cradle mounted on the roller shaft and pivotable through an angle of less than 90 degrees, a spring being provided for tensioning the apron. The upper apron roller 36 is held in a bearing 321 on the spring-loaded bracket 32 by a spring 34, so that when the roller supporting arm 31 is raised the roller 36 is raised also, carrying with it the apron 30 and cradle 37 that is urged forward to tension the apron 30 by a spring 38 pressed against the bearing 321 and the front of the cradle 37. Extensions 372 on the cradle are downwardly turned to rest upon the lower apron deflector bar 14 and to act as lateral guides for the apron 30. When the arm 31 is raised, the cradle 37 swings downwardly until the end 381 of the spring 38 contacts the bracket 32. In an alternative embodiment, a spring corresponding to spring 38 is arranged to urge a roller against the bottom run of the apron 30 so as to deflect both upper and lower aprons from a straight path along their fibre-contacting runs. Another embodiment has a cradle formed with vertical walls 76, Fig. 10, provided with slots 762 in which a deflector bar 79 under pressure from a spring 78 may slide. When the arm 31 is raised, the cradle swings downwardly after sliding out of contact with an angle iron 85 attached to the lower deflector bar 83.
