Abstract

730,148. Container closures. ARMOUR & CO. Aug. 4, 1953. No. 21513/53. Class 125 (3). A lyophilisation container 10. having a neck 11 with a flange 13 is closed by a closure structure comprising a resilient stopper with disc-like cover 15 and aligning projections 17 and spacing knobs 16, an inner collar 18, a cap 21 and an outer collar 22. The knobs 16 of rubber or like collapsible material support the weight of cover 15 and allow escape of vapours &c. during drying or lyophilisation but pressure on the cover 15 as for example due to vacuum in the container presses the knobs 16 flat and seals the container orifice, the stopper being retained in position by the collar 18 crimped on to the flange 13. Cap 21 is placed over the assembly and retained thereon by collar 22 which may have a tear off strip. Access to the contents is had by removal of the cap 21 and collar 22 and insertion of a hypodermic needle through the resilient stopper.
