Abstract
729,671. Refrigerating. PRESSED STEEL CO., Ltd. Nov. 18, 1953 [Nov. 19, 1952], No. 29215/62. Class 29. [Also in Group XXII] In a condenser comprising a serpentine coil 13 spot-welded at 12 to a flat plate 11 which is attached by flanges 17, 18 to the rear wall of a cabinet to form a flue, distortion of the plate during welding is avoided by welding alternate limbs or, as shown, alternate pairs of limbs 21, 22 and 23, 24 to opposite sides of the plate. The coil is located by straps 30. The top of the flue is closed by an inclined grid 33. An inspection trap 34 is provided. According to the Provisional Specification, distortion of a plate while welding a coil thereto is avoided by carrying out the welding either with the whole immersed in coolant or with coolant flowing through the coil.
