Abstract
An alloy, particularly for electrical resistance elements, has the following composition: Cr 10-less than 30 per cent; rare earth metals trace-0.5 per cent; Al 0.01-1 per cent; Ca 0.01-0.2 per cent; Fe 0-8 per cent; Zr 0-0.3 per cent; Mn 0-4 per cent; Si 0-3 per cent; C up to 0.25 per cent; Ni, more than 70 per cent, the balance. A preferred composition is: Cr 18-22 per cent; rare earth metals trace-0.2 per cent; Al 0.07-0.4 per cent; Ca 0.02-0.07 per cent; Fe trace-5 per cent; Mn 0.05-1 per cent; Si 0.2-2 per cent; C 0.02-0.15 per cent; Ni the remainder. The rare earth metals which are preferably Ce and/or La, may be added as misch-metal or as a salt with a reducing agent. Specifications 459,390, 455,594, 507,167 and 621,343 are referred to.
