Abstract

A liquid polishing composition comprises a volatile solvent, a wax soluble in the solvent and in an amount such that at ordinary temperatures an undissolved portion remains in the form of a suspension, a liquid dimethylpolysiloxane dissolved in the solvent and lanolin alcohols to aid in spreading the wax. The wax is preferably a microcrystalline wax, particularly an oxidized microcrystalline wax, and blends of such waxes may also be used. The solvent specified is naphthol mineral spirits. The composition preferably contains 78 parts (by weight) of solvent, 0.7 to 3.0 parts of wax, 0.25 to 1.5 parts of lanolin alcohols and 0.5 to 3.5 parts of liquid dimethylpolysiloxane. An example is given.
