Abstract
728,719. Porous, fibrous sheet material for electric accumulators. DRY ACCUMULATOR CO., Ltd. April 30, 1953 [June 6, 1952], No. 12000/53. Class 96. [Also in Group XXXVI] Separators for lead-acid secondary cells of the " dry " type (i.e. of the kind for which plates and separators are assembled into a pack which is compressed and forced into a case and absorbs the whole of the electrolyte) are made by beating a slurry of acid-resistant absorbent mineral particles, e.g. kieselguhr, aluminium oxide, or a powdered ceramic (70 parts) and purified cellulose fibres, asbestos or cellulose derivatives (30 parts), a floating-agent and/or a colloid, and a little rubber latex, preferably pre-vulcanized, are added, and sheets formed by hand or machine.
