Abstract
727,837. Valves. ROLLASON AEROCESSORIES, Ltd. Dec. 18, 1953 [Feb. 3, 1953], No. 3064/53. Class 135. A tapered lift valve 16 seats on a ring 15 of rubber or like resilient material, the latter being supported against a rigid annular flange or shoulder 14 in the valve casing; and the upper end of the valve abuts against an imperforate leakage-preventing diaphragm 22 with the valve actuating mechanism abutting against the other side of the diaphragm. The ring 15 is held in position by a screwed ring 18 with a washer 19 interposed between them. The valve is opened by screwing down a spindle 28, the lower end of the spindle abutting against a disc 31 between which and a disc 26 on the head of the valve the diaphragm 22 is sandwiched. Projections 34, 36 which can abut against adjustable pins 35, 37, respectively, constitute stops to limit the opening and closing movements of the valve. The opening through the valve seating may be tapered to correspond with the taper on the valve, and the ring 15 may overhang the rigid opening into the valve chamber.
