Abstract

727,345. Endless band conveyers. AENGENEYNDT, H. W. Dec. 27, 1952, No. 32802/52. Class 78 (1). In a conveyer formed of overlapping flat or troughed plates 4, 41, some or all of which are provided with lateral guide rollers 5 engaging guide rails 6 and which are mounted on an endless chain of articulated links 1, 2, the articulations including vertical pivot pins 3 in addition to horizontal pins to enable flexing of the chain in two mutually perpendicular planes, the chain links are so attached to the plates that on the upper run of the conveyer the line of pull of the chain is below the level at which the lateral guide rollers engage the guide rails. As shown, a frame 7 supports the guide rails 6, the lower ones of which may be vertically adjustable. The plates 4, 41 are each provided with a channel 9 to which a link 1 or 2 of the driving chain is attached, a link 2 and a pair of rollers 5 being attached to each fourth plate 41. The links 2 are of composite construction, the two parts being connected by the pin 3. The driving chain is driven by eight-sided sprocket 11, four of whose sides have teeth 10 for engaging with links 1, the links 2 engaging a plain side of the sprocket. The plates are formed in such a way that when overlapped the conveying surfaces lie flush.
