Abstract

726,462. Magnetic compositions. ART. - GES. FUR UNTERNEHMUNGEN DER EISEN - UND STAHLINDUSTRIE. May 8, 1953 [May 10, 1952], No. 12927/53. Class 38 (2). A permanent magnet having a favoured direction of magnetization with a relatively high value of (BH)max. is made by sintering a mixture of oxides to a coarse-grained powder, pulverizing to a fine powder and compressing, a magnetic field being applied while the mould is being filled with the powder or during the compression. The final magnet contains 5-60 per cent mol. barium ferrite, the starting materials preferably comprising 10-20 per cent, BaO and 80-90 per cent Fe 2 O 3 , measured by weight.
