Abstract
726,051. Printing - telegraph receivers. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. Jan. 1, 1953 [Jan. 2, 1952], No. 38/53. Class 40 (3). In a printing telegraph selector mechanism in which a seeker latch on a rotating arm engages an aligned groove on annular notched selector members set by the elements of a received signal to effect printing or a functional operation by the axial movement of a further transmission member, relative movement is produced in the plane of rotation between the arm carrying the seeker latch and the axial shaft of the selector mechanism, and the axial movement to produce the printing or equivalent action is produced by converting means coupled with the arm carrying the seeker latch. The internally notched rings 3 are set by the elements of a received signal via mechanism (not shown) and cams 2 on a combiner shaft 1 to which a sleeve 4 is adjustably secured by a bolt 11 and a clamping sleeve 13. A latch carrier member 14 is rotatably mounted on the sleeve 4 with a limited degree of rotation determined by a recess 12 in association with the sleeve 13. The member 14 carries a latch 15 pivoted on a pin 16 and urged towards the rings 3 by an angle-piece 17 connected to one end of a spring 9 having its other end attached to a link collar 7 adjustably secured to the sleeve 4. To an arm of the collar 7 is pivotally secured a rod 10 passing through a recess in the latch 15 and having operating abutment discs 18, 19. The latchcarrying member 14 has recesses 180 degrees apart engaged by axial projections on a coupling member 6 having oppositely directed staggered projections engaging recesses in a nut 5 surrounding a screwed extension of the sleeve 4. When the end of the latch 5 engages a set of aligned notches in the combiner rings 3, the latch carrier 14 is arrested and the further movement of the sleeve 4 causes the nut 5 to move axially to the left in Fig. 1 and to rock a pivoted printing lever 22 so that its flexible end 25 raises a hammer 26 and a tape (not shown) against the appropriate character on the typewheel 27. Towards the end of the relative movement of the sleeve 4, the flanged end or disc 19 on the rod 10 carried by the collar 7 actuates the latch 15 to allow the seeker arm and mechanism to rotate until it finds a subsequent set of aligned notches in the combiner rings 3. The positions of the link collar 7 and of the sleeve 4 are adjustable relative to the combiner shaft 1.
