Abstract
725,379. Fuel injectors. BOSCH GES., R. May 12, 1953 [June 17, 1952], No. 13176/53. Class 7 (3). A fuel injection valve 2 operated by fuel pressure has at the end thereof a pintle 11 formed of a cylindrical section and a conically tapered terminal section which pintle, when the nozzle is closed, is disposed with clearance within a cylindrical injection aperture 12 of diameter at the most 0À9 mm., the pintle remaining within the aperture 12 during a first portion of the needle lift to produce a hollow jet while at full needle lift it is retracted from the aperture to produce a dense jet. The cylindrical portion of the pintle 11 projects into the aperture 12 by approximately half of the full needle lift and the length of the aperture 12 is between one half and twice its diameter. The valve closing spring 4 may be arranged so that the closing force thereof increases, during the first portion of the needle lift, at a greater rate than the opening force of the fuel on the valve.
