Abstract
722,658. Snap-action switches; press-button retractive switches. CLAUSEN, M. [trading as DANFOSS]. Jan. 15, 1953 [Jan. 15, 1952], No. 1265/53. Class 38 (5) A switch comprises a blade spring 2 fixed at one end to a terminal block la and carrying contacts 10, 11 at its free end. A compression spring 14 pivotally connected between tabs 12, 13 of the blade 2 urges them out of the plane of the blade and, in the switch position shown in Fig. 1, urges the tab 12 against a stop 3 and the contact 10 against a fixed contact 5. On depression of the operator the pivot point c is moved to the opposite side of the blade 2 and the contact pressure is only slightly reduced, and when both end pivot points of the spring 14 pass a line through the point of contact engagement and the end point of the stop 3, the blade 2 snaps over so that contacts 6, 11 engage and tab 12 abuts the stop 4. Removal of pressure on the operator 15 permits the blade to restore itself. In modifications, Figs. 5-8 (not shown), one or both of the tabs 12, 13 are replaced by levers pivotally connected at one end to an end of an aperture in the blade, and at the other end to the compression spring 14. According to a further modification, Fig. 9 (not shown), one of the levers is pivoted at one end to a fixed point on the switch frame and at the other end to the compression spring. In another modification, Fig. 10 (not shown), the compression spring comprises a helical wire coil.
