[Also in Group II] The propeller shaft 4 of a mixing vessel 1 (see Group II) carries a boss 12 adjacent a water-cooled stuffing-box 3, and carbon rubbing blocks 35 are provided an the adjacent surfaces of the boss and box, the block 35 in the stuffing- box being urged by light springs 135 to ensure uniform contact between the blocks.
