Abstract

718,302. Pipe joints. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Jan. 28, 1953 [March 21, 1952], No. 7296/52. Class 99 (1). Pipes which are normally rigid but are made of a so-called plastic material such as polyvinyl chloride, are connected by flanges 1, 2 which are secured on the pipes by a screw-threaded connection 6 which extends part-way through the flange from its joint face, the remaining portion 4 of the flange bore fitting closely on the pipe. A sealing ring 10 in a recess 9 in flange 2 is compressed by a spigot 8 on flange 1. The contiguous faces of pipe and flange are coated with a cement, and the flanges are drawn together by bolts.
