Class 103(1) In a distributer valve for fluid pressure braking systems for railway vehicles, the starting or quick in shot valve is arranged coaxially with and directly above the main diaphragm control assembly and operated directly thereby. At the beginning of a brake application both valve members 25 and 30 are raised, as shown in Fig. 2. so that air from the auxiliary reservoir 40 flows rapidly into the brake cylinder 27. Later when an increase in pressure in chamber 37 has caused a downward movement of the diaphragm assembly, the valve member 30 becomes seated but not member 25 so that fluid flows into the brake cylinder only through the restriction 31 and passage 32.
