716,113. Washing-machines. BURNLEY AIRCRAFT PRODUCTS, Ltd. May 11. 1951, [Nov. 10, 1950], No. 27493/50. Class 138 (2) A washing machine agitator of the rotary oscillating type has vanes 11 which project radially from a central stem 5 and increase, towards their lower end, in the dimension outwardly from the agitator axis, the lower ends of the vanes 11 merging into a disc-like base 6 of inverted dished construction disposed generally normal to the axis, and each vane being inclined slightly towards one side with respect to the vertical, the inclination increasing gradually in an upward' direction and becoming substantially more pronounced midway of the vane height, whereafter it diminishes and is again slight where the top of each vane merges with the stem 5, the radial planes containing the top and bottom ends of each vane forming an angle of only a few degrees. The vanes thus present a concave surface towards one side and a convex surface towards the other side. An enlarged bead 16 extends along the edge of each vane.
