Abstract
In a dry-cleaning machine of the type including an air circulation system having an air cooler and an air heater for p introducing purified hot air into the cleaning drum for drying its contents, the air cooler is refrigerated. The air cooler condenses out the solvent vapour in the drying air before it is re-heated and recirculated to the drying drum. A more complete removal of the solvent vapour is achieved in the refrigerated air cooler than with one using water-cooling. Since the re-circulated air is purer its re-heating temperature may be reduced. In the form shown, the casing 1 of the machine wherein the articles are subjected to the usual cleaning and drying, is connected to <PICT:0715833/III/1> an air circulating system for the drying step containing a fan 2 driving air through a heater 3. The heated air passes through a duct 4 and enters the casing near the bottom through a slot 5. The air flows through the usual perforated drum containing the articles under treatment in the casing 1 and leaves the latter by an outlet duct 6. The air then flows through a filter to a cooler 7 and returns to the fan through ducts 8 and 9. The cooler 7 is provided with tubes or surfaces through which brine is circulated from a refrigerator 10. Specification 597,167, [Group VIII], is referred to.
