715,081. Rolling. WESSENDORF, G. Jan. 30, 1952, No. 2498/52. Class 83 (4). A device for maintaining substantially constant pressure during rolling of metal sheet and strip comprises a resilient member inserted between the roll journals and the screw-down spindles. A resilient member inserted in a light planishing mill comprises a box a, Fig. 1, containing a plurality of compression springs c supporting a cover e which is engaged by the spindle to compress the springs. The cover e is located centrally by a peg g projecting from its lower face and slidably engaged in a bore h of the box a. An indicator m reading on a scale o and actuated by the engagement of the peg g with an adjusting-screw i indicates the roll pressure.
