Abstract

713,624. Filtering gases. AIR & REFRIGERATION CORPORATION. Dec. 19, 1952 [Jan. 4, 1952], No. 32277/52. Class 8 (2). [Also. in Group XII] A unit which may be sprayed with water and used for moistening gases or may be treated with a viscous liquid, e.g. oil, and used as an air filter comprises a number of sheets of expanded, material 13 arranged in a frame 11 and secured to each other only at two diagonally opposite corners, adjacent sheets having the long axes of their openings at right angles to each other. The sheets which are preferably of metal may be secured by bolts or by studs 15 extending from members 15a fixed on the frame 11 and are spaced apart by spacing members 19 (Fig. 2) or by corrugating the sheets of expanded metal. The openings of the outermost sheets are larger than the openings of the inner sheets.
