Abstract
A selenium rectifier has an artificial barrier layer between the selenium and the counter electrode, consisting of a lacquer comprising a solution of a methyl substituted para or meta diamino benzene in a nitro alkane. Between 1 per cent. and 4 per cent. of the diamino benzene may be added to nitro methane to form the solution together with up to 1 per cent. of a film forming material such as a nitro-cellulose resin. The resin solution may consist of 10 per cent. nitro-cellulose, 50 per cent. toluol, 15 per cent. butyl alcohol, 15 per cent. butyl acetate and 10 per cent. ethyl acetate.
