Abstract
712,928. Magnetic sound recording and reproducing apparatus. LOEWE OPTA AKT.-GES. Jan. 14, 1952 [Jan. 18, 1951], No. 1017/52. Class 40 (2) When the direction of rotation of a driving shaft 2 of a magnetic tape or wire recorder is reversed, collars 7, 8 mounted on reel driving shafts 4, 5, and the shaft 2 engage friction surfaces 12, 13, 14, respectively to move a sector member 11 about a pivot 9, e.g., from a full line to a broken line position. Guide rollers 17, 18 are mounted on a plate 16 to move with the sector 11 and thus move the tape or wire. The tape or wire may have two tracks and may be moved to engage one track with gaps on one side of the magnetic heads and to engage the other track with gaps on the other side of the magnetic heads. The collars 7, 8 may have friction surfaces and are designed to engage the surfaces 12, 13 loosely to start the movement of the sector 11, while the shaft 2 closely engages the surface 14 to move the sector across. The shafts 4, 5 are driven from the shaft 2 by a cord 3. Specification 686,218 is referred to.
