Abstract

711,368. Telegraph transmitters. AUTELCA AKT.-GES. Aug. 24, 1951 [Aug. 24, 1950], No. 20010/51. Class 40 (3) In facsimile or printing telegraph apparatus comprising a number of impulse discs for controlling the transmission of a plurality of impulse combinations, and a contact device associated with the discs for transmitting the impulses, each impulse control disc is formed with a cam slot representative of the impulse combination and a finger member actuated by the operation of a setting device, such as a key, enters, and is directed by the cam slot for transmission of the corresponding code combination. The depression of a key lever 10 rocks an arm 21 to open contacts 11a, Fig. 2, and close contacts 11b of a switch 11 so that the magnets 32 or 33 of a driving device 12 are energized to effect rotation of the shaft 13. After a slight rotation of the shaft 13, a finger 30 on a cam 15 engages a pin 31 on a cam disc 17 loose on the shaft 13, so that closed contacts v replace the contacts 11b if the key has been released, and provide the driving circuit for the magnets 32, 33. A depending projection 20 on the operated key-lever 10 depresses a contact operating arm 24 having a pin 26 which engages the cam slot 27 shaped to produce, in the application for printing telegraphy, stop and start impulses and the impulses representing the signal corresponding to the key depressed. Towards the end of the revolution of the shaft 13 contacts s are closed to provide a path alternative to contacts 11a if they are open due to the key being still in the depressed condition, and a little later contacts k are again closed so that the magnets 32, 33 are energized simultaneously to apply a braking action to the shaft 13. The contacts v remain closed for a short interval due to the lag of the disc 17 and in conjunction with contacts 11a or s maintain the braking action until the shaft 13 reaches its normal rest position in which contacts v are opened and the driving circuit is opened.
