Abstract
711,102. Agglomerating ores. REYMERSHOLMS GAMLA INDUSTRI AKTIEBOLAG. July 1, 1952 [July 4, 1951], No. 16522/52. Class 82 (1) A rotatable drum 1 for preparing pellets of ores or nuclei for pellets has the form of a frustum of a cone With its apical end 2 pointing downwardly and arranged with its axis at an angle to the horizontal less than the semi-apical angle of the cone, so that pellets, with a greater tendency to roll down the inclined lower generator, will be delivered to the wide end. An apical angle of 15-40 degrees is preferred for preparing pellets, and 45-60 degrees for nuclei in which latter case the nuclei may be delivered to a second frusto-conical drum. The drum is rotated by a motor 22 driving one of each pair of flanged wheels 6 and 7 between which rings 4 and 5 respectively on the drum rest. The inclination of the drum is adjustable by screws 14; material is fed in by a throwing band 51 from a hopper 65 and pellets are collected by a spiral grid 31 which carries them as the drum rotates to the centre discharge opening 41.
