Abstract
711,049. Speed governors. C.A.V Ltd. Feb. 18, 1952 [April 11. 1951], No. 8377/51, Class 57 In a speed governor for a fuel-injection pump a in which a diaphragm d is connected to the control rack b and loaded by a spring e and subjected through pipe g to the pressure in the throttle controlled engine air induction pipe, movement of the diaphragm to the right causes it, in the idle speed range, to contact and open a valve h to admit atmosphere to the chamber f. The valve h has a head j that engages a seat i and the valve stem has a groove m and axial grooves n which reduce in cross section towards the seat i so that the flow passage increases in section as the valve lifts. In a modified form as shown in Fig. 4, the grooves n are replaced by a groove p which communicates with the chamber f through passages q. Specification 575,146, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
