Abstract
710,684. Coat hangers. COOK, J. T., and MILNE. J. C. April 24, 1953 [April 30, 1952], No. 10840/52. Class 52(5) A coat hanger with a skirt or like supporting cross-bar is provided with means to retain the skirt in its suspended position. As shown the hanger is made of wire bent inwardly and outwardly again at the junctions of the yoke 1 and cross-bar 2 so as to provide clasps 7, 8 at each junction, the clasps forming lower slots 3 opening inwards above the cross-bar and upper slots 4 opening outwards above the slot 3. In use, a skirt is passed over the cross-bar 2 and the side edges are inserted under the members 7 of the clasps so that the skirt is gripped between the members 7 and the bar 2. Garments may be suspended by loops from the slots 4. The hanger may be stamped out of sheet material or made of wood, in which case the slots 4 may or may not be provided.
