Abstract
710,573. Tanks. SOUDURE AUTOGENE FRANCAISE. Dec. 10, 1951 [Dec. 11, 1950], No. 28900/51. Class 69 (t) A liquid storage tank, particularly for transport purposes, comprises a cylindrical shell with horizontal generatrices and a longitudinal box girder within its central part. Fig. 1 shows side shells 2, 3 supported by a central box girder 1 which rests on the supports through its lower flange 4, and has solid webs 6, 7 with lower and upper apertures 8, 9 and one or more intermediate openings 28 located opposite a manhole 29 in the upper flange 5 of the girder. Fig. 4 shows a more downwardly extending box girder 1 with lattice-type webs 10, oblique end bars 15, 16 and cross stays 30. Compression members of the lattice may be joined by cross struts 21, Fig. 6 (not shown). The tank may be subdivided by staggered partitions 19, 20, Fig. 7, or by domeshaped partitions 23, Fig. 8, with stiffening sheets 24, 25.
