Abstract

710,484. Massage apparatus. PELLI, M. RUTTGER-. July 31, 1950, No. 19127/50. Class 81(2) Massage apparatus comprises an airtight transparent casing with a handle, the casing forming an envelope for a filament serving as a light source and having projections of the same material as the casing which serve as massage members. The massage device is in the shape of a comb or brush having teeth 12 with hollows which communicate with a back portion 11 containing a filament 17. The device is detachably secured in a handle receiving electric current through a lead which is fitted with a controlling switch. Sources of radiation may be disposed in the hollow teeth 12. The radiation applied by the device is in the form of visible, infra-red or ultra-violet light. The casing is made from glass, quartz or plastic which may be coloured or provided with a cover having a strip of different colours so that light of different colours may be used during treatment.
