Abstract
710,165. Centrifugal separators. MAXIM SILENCER CO. April 10, 1952 [May 25, 1951], No. 9202/52. Class 23 [Also in Group XIII] A stream separator comprises a cylindrical shell 10 having a closed bottom end 11, an inlet 13 directing steam and water mixture along the inside wall of the upper part of the shell, a steam outlet 15 from the top of the shell, a water outlet 14 from the lower part of the shell and baffles 24, 26, 27, 28 adjacent the water outlet preventing egress of scale. As shown in Fig. 2 the entering mixture is deflected by a baffle 16 to form two streams. and in the modification shown in Fig. 7 the mixture is discharged into the shell from holes 34 in an extension of the inlet 33. In further modifications the inlet pipe is tangential to the shell, and a baffle at the mouth of a radially directed pipe causes the mixture to enter the shell as a single stream.
