709,242. Mine roof supporting bars. DIRECTIE VAN DE STAATSMIJNEN IN LIMBURG. March 4, 1952 [March 8, 1951], No. 5645/52. Class 20 (2) One mine roof supporting bar 5 is pivotally connected by pin 7 and hole 3 to another bar 1 and is supported therefrom by a bar shoe 8 suspended from a pin 4 on the bar 1 and extending under the adjacent ends of the two bars, the shoe 8 being adapted to press elastically against and support the bar 5. As shown in Fig. 1, the bar shoe 8 is rockably suspended from the pin 4 by means of hooks 9 on a bifurcated shoe arm 10 in which a laminated plate spring 11 is secured. The end 13 of the plate spring 11 is pressed up against the bar 5 by means of an adjustment screw 14. In Fig. 4, the shoe 8 comprises a continuous laminated plate spring 16 embraced by a shackle 17 suspended from the pin 4, an adjustment screw 19 in the shackle 17 being adapted to press the spring 16 upwardly against the bars 1, 5.
