Abstract
708,426. Tilting pad bearings. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Nov. 30, 1951 [Dec. 8, 1950], No. 30095/50. Class 12(1) In a pivoted thrust pad bearing of the type wherein two rows of staggered equalizer pads 1, 3, 5 and 2, 4, 6 are interposed between the base of the bearing T and a rigid ring (not shown) supporting the assembly of pivoted thrust pads as a whole, each equalizer pad is hinged with clearance about a radial axis on a cage consisting of two concentric cylindrical rings V, W which are connected with one another by radial bridge pieces X, Y, the axes of the equalizer pads of the two rows being arranged at two different planes perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the thrust collar. The number of equalizer pads in each row is preferably equal to the number of pivoted thrust pads.
