Abstract
705,812. Forging. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. July 30, 1952 [Aug. 13, 1951], No. 19236/52. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XII] A method of heating steel billets comprises the steps of welding a metal stud to one end of a billet, suspending the billet by the stud and passing the billet while so suspended through a heating -zone and heating it therein to a temperature suitable for forging or extrusion. As shownin Fig. 4 the billet 10 is supported by a hook 13 which engages the head of the stud 11.
