Abstract

704,740. X-ray tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Nov. 28, 1952 [Dec. 3, 1951], No. 30217/52. Class 39(1) In an X-ray tube anode which is cooled by the impingement of a liquid spray on its under surface, a movable guide is provided between said under surface and the spray nozzle. In the example shown, the liquid enters through tube 18 into a metal box 19, and sprays through a perforated wall 20 on to the anode surface 21. In its path is a rotor 23 having curved arms 24, which the motion of the liquid causes to rotate about a pivot 25. The aim is to reduce fouling of the surface 21 when oil is used as the cooling liquid. The rotor arms may also carry brushes which sweep the surface 21.
