Class.64(1) In a domestic hot water supply system comprising a closed hot water reservoir a and an adjacent open cold water reservoir b connected together by an inlet pipe f leading to the bottom of the hot water reservoir from the cold water reservoir, to which cold water is supplied through a float-controlled valve, means are provided at the upper end of the inlet pipe f to reduce convection circulation therefrom into the cold water reservoir a. In the forms shown, an air lock is formed by an inverted cup h located above and partly overlapping a shallow cup e around the top of the pipe f. The cup e and/or the pipe f may be of non-conducting material or jacketed with solid or air insulation. In one form, Fig. 2, the expansion pipe g extends through the pipe f and the cup h. 'The cup e may have upward projections to support the cup h. In another form, Fig. 8, the expansion pipe is in two parts, g<SP>1</SP>, g<SP>2</SP>. The lower part g<SP>1</SP> may be omitted, a hole being provided in the side of the pipe f near the top. The cups e, h may be replaced by an inverted cup, from which air has been allowed to escape, or other baffle arrangement. Specification 453,294 is referred to.
