Abstract

702,987. Expelling dust in industrial processes. MELLOR, BROMLEY & CO., Ltd. March 20, 1951 [May 4, 1950], No. 11040/50. Class 8 (2). [Also in Group VIII] During the operation of a circular knitting machine, a fan or fans rotate in a horizontal plane on the machine's central axis, to disperse fluff or lint, the fan or fans being driven, either from the machine or from an independent electric motor mounted thereon. The upper one 16 of two opposed fans blows upwardly and the lower one 15 blows downwardly. The fans may be carried on a tubular shaft 17, driven through a flexible shaft 22, from the dial driving gear 4 and rotating about a column 10 which bears a bobbin-supporting spider 11 and a disc 13 furnished with yarn guides 14, or with yarn controlled devices operating an electrical stop motion. In a multi-feed cylinder and. dial machine, the fans may be driven by an electric motor 29 supported, through arms 30 and uprights 27, on posts carrying a ring bearing bobbin-supports. Yarn controlled electrical stop-motion operating devices 25 are carried on a ring 26.
