Abstract
701,952. Oven stoves. IGLIC, J. Jan. 21. 1952 [Jan. 29, 1951], No. 1595/52. Class 126 [Also in Group VI] Poultry &c. is roasted on rotatable spits in a unitary pair of enclosed side ovens 1, 2 heated from a central chamber 3 in which is located a heater, e.g. a removable fire basket 28 of burning charcoal. The fire basket, Fig. 4, comprises fnclined corrugated sheet metal walls 4, 5, a slidable top plate 6, a pair of ash-shaking grids 7, air inlets 8 and ash containers 9. Alternatively, the heating may be by gas, coal, wood &c. or by electricity in which the sides 4, 5 are provided with electric spirals. The top plate 6 may be constructed as a cooking or frying plate with a central hole for exit of combustion gases. The side ovens 1, 2 are provided with up and down sliding windows 27 to allow access for placing and clamping spit in position to allow rotation for a large and a small roast (right hand oven) or smaller roasts. Slots 21 allow for this adjustment and also for moving the roast nearer or further from the heat sources. The outer oven walls may be double to prevent loss of heat. The spits are rotated by removable handles or some form of chain drive. Transverse bores may be formed in the spits to accommodate skewers for securing the poultry thereon.
