Nov. 3, 1949 [Nov. 16, 1948; March 12, 1949; April 27, 1949; May 23, 1949 and May 28, 1949], Nos. 28175/49, 28176/49, 28177/49, 28178/49 and 28179/49]. Class 6 (1) [Also in Group XXIX] A centrifugal blower and an internal combustion engine are mounted in line either on the same shaft or on axially aligned shafts, the air stream from the blower casing causing a suction action on a source of insect-destroving powder which is projected through a duct leading from the blower and connected to one or more spraying nozzles. A hopper 141, Figs. 10, 11, has an air inlet 145, and a duct 149 is connected by a duct 148 to the inlet of a centrifugal fan 146. A further duct 152 is loosely pivoted at 155 to the duct 149 so that it keeps in contact with the powder surface, and the duct 152 has powder inlet apertures 153. The air and powder are mixed with heated air from a duct 158 connected to the fan motor casing and are then forced through a duct 159 and a, pipe, not shown, to the spraying nozzle. An adjustable vane at the outlet of the duct 148 controls the powder supply.
