Abstract

699,390. Securing tyres on cylinders. POLYSIUS GES. Oct. 25, 1951 [Aug. 6, 1949], No. 25025/51. Class 80 (ii). Cast steel or iron tyres A, mounted on sheet - metal rotary cylinders B such as rotary cement kilns used for heating processes, and supporting the weight of the cylinders on rolls, are so mounted on the cylinders as to permit relative radial movement to allow for differential thermal expansion but not circumferential movement. The mounting may comprise interfitting teeth C. in single or double rows, formed by separate strips bolted or riveted on, cast-in (in the tyre) or welded on (on the cylinder) ; or bolts welded to either one member and a push fit in the other. The tyre has radial clearance on the drum but there is no circumferential clearance in the teeth.
