Abstract

698,547. Snap-action switches. WARD & GOLDSTONE, Ltd., and COUYOUMDJIAN, A. O. Sept. 7, 1951 [Sept. 21, 1950]. No.23134/50. Class 38(v) A push-button switch is operable on and off by successive depressions of the button 17 which is urged outwards by two aligned compression springs 22, 26 which engage between them a conducting cross-bar 24 on a plunger 23 slidable and rotatable relatively to the button, the cross-bar co-operating with a fixed ring of ratchet teeth 27, defining angularly spaced on and off positions of the bar, and being operated by a ring of ratchet teeth 34 formed on the inner end of the button. Depression of the button causes teeth 34 to depress the bar 24 until it is moved over the crest of teeth 27 when it is raised and rotated rapidly through 90 degrees by the spring 26 and edges 27b of teeth 27, so as to bridge contacts 28. The next depression of button 23 causes a further 90 degrees rotation to the off position, and so on. The button is prevented from rotation by keys 16 thereon acting in grooves 15 in the body part 14.
