In a price computing weighing scale, an optical projection system is movable into alignment with any of a number of rows of. computed price indicia by a manual control which simultaneously sets a basic price indicator. As applied to a drum type scale the projection system comprises a lamp 35 (Fig. 7) co-operating with a fixed mirror 38, a condenser lens 36 and a projection lens 37 mounted on a carrier 99 which is guided by rods 32, 33 for movement axially along the drum behind a glass screen 4, which may be flat or curved concentrically with the drum, a lug 19 on the carrier being operatively engaged by a helical slot 15 in a cylinder 14, see also Fig. 3, which effects this movement. The cylinder 14 is rotated for rough adjustment of the projector by means of a flanged disc 10 coupled to the cylinder through meshing gears 11, 12, and having finger holes 26 in its outer face and, on its flange 20, basic price indicia 21 which co-operate with a fixed index 22; fine adjustment being effected by rotating the cylinder directly by a knurled thumb wheel 13. A fixed basic price scale 7a is provided to facilitate the rough adjustment whilst helically arranged on cylinder 14 is a further basic price scale 16 which co-operates with indices 17, 18 on the carrier, and is used for the fine adjustment. An index line 4c which co-operates with the projected computed price indicia on screen 4, also co-operates with an image on a screen 4a of weight indicia which are projected by a stationary projector (not shown) similar to the movable projector. Pairs of magnets (not shown) arranged around the periphery of disc 10 or a further disc (not shown) secured thereto are adapted to cooperate with pairs of armatures secured to the disc to align it in positions which precisely correspond with the steps on the basic price scale. In a modification (not shown) the drum may be replaced by a flat chart.
