Class 122(v) [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] A spring-loaded packing ring 46 surrounding a pipe or a plug 40 is compressed and radially expanded into contact with the walls of a housing member 43 and the pipe &c. by axial movement of a screwed nut 44. A rigid ring 48 ensures even distribution of the pressure of the spring 45, preferably of the Belville kind, on the ring 46.
