Class 125(iii) In a bottle closure in which a rubber wad is pressed on to the rim by a cap, a non-corrosion disc is interposed between the rubber wad 3 is formed at contents. As shown' the rubber wad 3 is formed at its undersurface with an annular part 6 adapted to engage the rim 4 of the bottle 2 and with a recess for the reception of a bulged disc 5 of hard non- corrosive material such as glass while the upper surface is provided with an annular ridge 7. The disc 5 at its pheripheral edge is as shown slightly clear of the inner edge of the rim 4 of the bottle but when the cap 1 is screwed home the ridge 7 is flattened, the wad 3 compressed against the rim 4 and the disc 5 forced into contact with the inner edge or part of the rim 4 so that the rubber wad 3 is protected from contact with the contents of the bottle. In a modification a countersunk recess is formed around the mouth of the bottle to contain a flat disc of a thickness corresponding to the depth of the recess while the rubber wad is flat and when compressed by the cap presses on both the flat disc and the rim of the bottle.
