Abstract
696,006. Casting machines ; clamping moulds; extracting castings; moulds. LAUTERJUNG, G. July 18, 1951 [July 25, 1950], No. 17026/51. Class 83 (i). A casting-machine for light metals &c. having a frame, a base slide movable thereon, and two slides movable on the base slide, is characterized in that vertical slots are formed in each of said parts to receive respectively a fixed mould part, a movable mould part, a coreholding plate and an ejector plate. The fixed mould half is arranged to slide in slots 9 in the frame 1, the movable mould half in slots 10 in a slide 8, the core plate in slots 13 in a slide 12, and the ejector plate in slots 15 in a slide 14. The slide 8 may be operated by pneumatic or hydraulic means or by a crank or an eccentric 5. A shaft 18 is mounted by bearings 19, Fig. 2, in the slide 8 and this carries the slides 12, 14, longitudinally movable on guides on its bottom plate and lid 11. The shaft 18 carries loose sleeves 22, Fig. 3, each with a gear 23 engaging a rack 27, Fig. 1, of the slide 12, a gear 21 adapted to engage a short rack 26 fixed to the frame 1 and a flat face 30, Fig. 4 (not shown), adapted to engage a ledge 31 of the frame and prevent rotation of the sleeve 22 when it is not being driven by the gear 21 engaging the rack 26. Thus during part of the travel of the slide 8 the sleeves are rotated and the slide 12 with its core is moved in the same direction as and at a greater speed than the moving mould part. The shaft 18 has also fixed thereto gears 20, 24 and a flat face to react with the racks 25, 28 and ledge 31 similarly to cause the slide 14, with the ejectors, to move in the opposite direction to the slide 8 during part of the latter's movement. The eccentric may be rotated by a handle 4 or automatic means and, if required, there may be other slides, e.g. to carry the normally fixed mould part if it is to be moved to and from the nozzle of a machine for casting under pressure. The machine may also be arranged vertically.
